Leagues

The KGS Leagues are a series of semi-serious games played on KGS, we are aiming for a bimonthly rythm. Registration for May/June 2004 is now open, email the League Coordinator.

Rules

All games to be played as even games, with komi of 7.
Ruleset is whatever the players agree on, defaulting to New Zealand rules.
Games may be free or rated, as players wish.
To avoid disputes, both players should indicate that they mean this game as a league game, e.g. by typing "KGS League Game" into the chat box.
Any disputes are to be settled by the League Director.
If one of the players does not agree with the a decision, he may appeal to the Chief Referee.
All decisions by the Chief Referee are final.

A win will count as 2 points, a jigo as 1 point. At the end of the league session, the player with the most points will be awarded first place, etc., with ties resolved as follows:

Direct comparison.
In case of a Jigo, the player who had White is given the better place.
If the two players did not play, the one who played more games gets the better place.
If there is still a tie, the placing is awarded equally to both players.

The League Director may award a win for an unplayed game to one player if he believes it is the fault of the other player that the game did not take place.

Players who do not play a significant portion of their games may be barred from future participation by the League Coordinator. New players may join at the beginning of a session, and will be placed into a league based on their rank.

The League Coordinator is Andrew Mueller (Kagura on KGS).

The Chief Referee is Michael Goetze (mgoetze on KGS).
